Attended the 2017 MCAS Beaufort Airshow after receiving an invite from the CO. It was wonderful having VIP access and parking, along with the CO Chalet. Cannot express enough grattitude to the MCAS Commanding Officer and his staff for hosting us. It was a great day. REALLY LOVED seeing the F35 B, we have been hearing it enough.
My sister and her husband lived on base here years ago. Loved visiting her there!
Attended the Beaufort Air Show at this base last Saturday with my husband. Overall it was great. Parking was very easy (though we arrived mid-day) and the grounds were simple to navigate.
If I could give this base zero stars I would.
Next time I think we'll shell out the money for one of the VIP packages so we can get closer to the action (though there really isn't a bad seat since the planes are above you) and have a tent or two available for shelter from the sun!
They had a great line up (including the Blue Angels!) and did a great job of narrating the show. Honestly the only issue we had was how sunburned we got standing on the blacktop all afternoon (though that is entirely our fault for not packing enough sunscreen).
We stayed at a hotel in town and it's pool faced north. At evening several fighters took off. Amazing to watch and hear them as they take flight.
A great experience just driving by and seeing fighter jets taking off and landing. Protecting our country.
